CELL CYCLE STAGE G2
Stage G2 (from the Eng. gap) is the last of the three sequential stages of the resting stage of the cell cycle. This is the presynthetic, or, postmitotic stage. During this stage intensive processes of biosynthesis occur. Mitochondria and chloroplasts (in plants) divide, energy supply increases, centrioles (in the cells, where they are present) replicate, and the cleavage spindle begins to be formed.
