MEDIUM REACTION (pH)
Acidity (alkalinity) of a medium is measured in the units of hydrogen index (pH). The pH is defined by the ratio pH = -lgCH, where CH is concentration of hydrogen ions (= H+) (= protons) in the medium. Then the pH of a neutral medium is 7, the pH of an acidic medium is less than 7, the pH of basic medium is more than 7.
