NAD
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a coenzyme, a derivative of the nicotinic acid (one of the vitamins of the B group). Molecules of this coenzyme are electropositive (they are lacking in one electron), and they can play the role of a transporter of both electrons and hydrogen atoms. When a pair of hydrogen atoms is accepted, one of the atoms dissociates into a proton and an electron, and the second one joins NAD as a whole, that is, one molecule of NADH transports a hydride-ion (H:- a hydrogen atom and an additional electron).
