MACROMOLECULE

Macromolecule is a molecule of a polymer, where atoms number in hundreds. Macromolecules are of chain structure. They consist of similar or different structural units (monomers, or subunits), links. These structural units are atoms or groups of atoms, which are connected with each other by covalent bonds in linear sequence. Key macromolecules synthesized by cells are polynucleotides (DNA and RNA), polysaccharides and proteins. These molecules are highly structurally diverse and are the most complicated of all known molecules. Macromolecules are characterized by large molecular weight.
