CELL DIVISION
Cell division is division of a cell into two ones as a procedure of cell reproduction. It provides multiplication of number of unicellular organisms. In multicellular organisms, the process lies in the basis of tissue growth and sexual propagation.
Cell division includes two consecutive steps, which are nucleus division (mitosis) and cytoplasm division (cytokinesis). However, before a cell is able to divide, it must double its mass and its components. The most part of the preparation of a cell for division is accomplished during its growth stage, which is called resting stage.
Eukaryotes have the following types of cell division:
The series of events between the formation of a given cell and the formation of daughter cells out of it during cell division process, or, its death, is called cell cycle.
