PROTON CHANNEL
Proton channel is a narrow cavity formed by polar groups of protein. Proton channel is an important component of all H+ATPases. It is formed by the hydrophobic part of the coupling factor subunit - so called CF0 complex. Along the H+-channel protons move to the catalytic region of the transport system, where the H+ transfer is conjugated with synthesis-hydrolysis of ATP. So, the main nodes of H+-pumps are the proton channel and active site.
