AMITOSIS
Amitosis is direct division of a nucleus and a cell through cleavage of the nucleolus with the following overstretching of the whole corpus of the nucleus, without formation of chromosomes or a mitotic spindle. Amitosis does not provide even proportioning of genetic material of every chromosome between two daughter cells.
Amitosis occurs in some protozoa, and also in cells of some specialized tissues, and during pathologic proliferation.
