PHOSPHORYLATION
Phosphorylation is incorporating a residue of the phosphoric acid into a molecule. In living cells it is accomplished by ferments of transferase family (kinases, phosphomutases, phosphorylases). Phosphorylation plays an important part in metabolic processes, because many compounds can undergo metabolic reactions only in phosphorylated (activated) form.
