CYTOPLASMIC MATRIX

Cytoplasmic matrix is a homogenous substance (while investigating with an electronic microscope) between microfilaments. It consists of water and multiple dissolved inorganic and organic matters including enzymes and other proteins. Cytoplasmic matrix serves as the medium for diffusion of many intermediate metabolites and also as the place where the most important metabolic processes (like glycolysis or pentose-phosphate cycle) are going on.
