CATALYST

Substances, which speed up reactions, but by the end of the reaction remain chemically unchanged, are called catalysts. Catalytical activity of a substance is specific, that is, a substance, which is a good catalyst for one reaction, turns out to be absolutely inactive in another one. For a reaction, which is catalyzed by a certain substance, other catalysts can be found.
