GENOTYPE

A cell nucleus, which is the information centre of a cell, contains chromosomes with inherited abilities in the form of DNA, that is, genetic information for metabolism and development. Genetic information, which is contained in a cell nucleus, is known as the genotype. During the lifetime of an organism its genotype remaines inalterable, unlike the phenotype, which is defined by the genotype. However, the correspondence between the genotype and the penotype is not direct. The reason for this is in the fact, that phenotype is the result of a compliated set of interactions between various genes, and between genes and the environment.
