ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

Endoplasmic reticulum is a net inside the cytoplasmic membrane and membrane transformations. They distinguish smooth (or, agranular) and rough (or, granular) endoplasmic reticulum.

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum is a system of membranes, in which many enzymes are localized (for example, oxydases), which catalyze detoxification of poisonous substances. Moreover, on the membranes of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum synthesis of lipids and disintegration of glycogen take place.

Rough endoplasmic reticulum is a system of intracellular membranes, to which multiple ribosomal particles are attached. On the membranes of the rough endoplasmic reticulum proteins are synthesized.
